Ultrafiltration Membrane

Ultrafiltration (UF) is a type of membrane filtration in which hydrostatic pressure difference across the semipermeable porous membrane separates physical impurities/solutes from the raw solution. CDMS UF membrane is a Hollow fiber of specialty hydrophilic material capable of separating substances at a very low pressure drops across the membrane thereby making them a low energy consumption membranes.

CDMS UF is used to remove essentially all colloidal particles (0.02 to 1.0 microns) from water and some of the largest dissolved contaminants. The pore size in a UF membrane is mainly responsible for determining the type and size of contaminants removed.

Applications :

  • All paint industries such as pigment manufacturer, coating industry and paint manufacturing.
  • In recent years, ultrafiltration has been widely used in the fields of water treatment, such as drinking water purification, wastewater treatment, industrial wastewater treatment and water reuse.
  • Membranes are employed for the removal of bacteria and other microorganisms, particulate material, and any material, which can impart color, tastes, and odors to the water and react with disinfectants to form disinfection by-products (DBP) above 0.02 Micron particle size.
  • Ultrafiltration plays major role in dairy industries. It is used for milk concentration by separating excess water from milk without losing its constituents.
  • UF membranes are used as a pre-treatment to RO membranes
