Reaction Technology

Chemical Reaction in industry deals with chemical reactors mainly Batch Reactors, Continuous stirred tank reactors. Mixing is a unit operation that involves manipulation of heterogeneous physical system with the intent to make it more homogeneous. Mixing is performed to allow heat and/or mass transfer to occur between one or more streams, components or phases.

Liquid-liquid blending tends to involve low shear, high flow mixers. In liquid Solid mixing axial flow impellers, high flow number turbine impellers such as hydrofoils are typically used. Liquid and gas are typically mixed to allow mass transfer to occur. Typical impellers like wide blade hydrofoils are used in such cases. Static mixers are tubular internals of appropriate shape and strength to cause desired mixing and dispersion effects as the fluid flows around suitably arranged motionless mixer parts. The fluid flow is provided by pumping.
