Membrane decanters are used to separate the immiscible liquids. Traditional decanters are very large in size and require a level controller. In the membrane decanters separation takes place due to two different membranes being placed at the opposite end of the decanter. At one end it will allow only water to pass through it which is an oleophobic membrane and at the other end only solvent will pass which is the hydrophobic membrane. As membrane separation is the future of separation, this innovation will surely help to reduce the fabrication cost of the large-size decanter.
